Jaap J. Boon, geochemist and analytical mass spectrometrist at AMOLF in Amsterdam till retirement in 2012, masterminded and coordinated the NWO MOLART and De Mayerne program for Art Science and Conservation of easel paintings from 1995-2006. (Co)author of >420 papers and promoter of 35 PhD students. Since 2007 he runs JAAP Enterprise for Art Scientific Studies to perform advanced studies of paintings and bronzes for museums, galleries and private restorers. His company develops and sells custom stand systems for high magnification digital microscopy-spectroscopy of paintings. Main present paintings research involves metal soaps formation processes and studies of the development of polar fractions in modern and contemporary oil paintings leading to fluorescent exudates and oozing drips.
